It turns out there's a Japanese ghost (Yokai) called the Oboroguruma.
It is a ghost-vehicle, possessed by the spirit of the person who was run over by it. Or something like that. It's enough for me to run with, at least.
Originally it is brought to life by people fighting over it, which is probably what would happen with Alice. Since Curtis is a little pissy dweeb, Alice gets fed up with him and becomes independent. (She was originally his car)
